A Vision for Catholic Youth Ministry

youthThis course introduces students to the vision and principles for developing a comprehensive framework for youth ministry. Students will explore the historical development as well as contemporary models of the Catholic Church’s efforts to reach out to young people and their families. Finally, students will be introduced to a leadership system for creating a stable, vibrant, and lasting ministry within their ministry setting.

The course is recommended for all persons working with young people in the Parishes including, Clergy, Religious, Catechists, Lay Associates, Parish Council Members, Teachers, Youth Leaders & other interested persons.

  • Interested persons will register via the registration forms which will be made available both electronically and paper-based.


  • Registered participants will receive the required readings for each Unit. Participants will be required to complete reflection questions based on the readings.  There are 5 Units in Total.


  • After completing Part 1 registered participants will be enrolled on the University of Dayton Virtual Learning Community for Faith Formation for the next available online course intake. There is a fee of EC$150.00 (course fee + materials).   The fee should be brought in to the Diocesan Youth Office.  A username and password will be sent to you in order to login to the course website.
  • Participants will complete the online version of the course and interact with students from the US and other parts of the world. Weekly course assignments will also be submitted through the Online system.  Since all readings have already been done, it will be much easier to complete the online content within the specified time.
  • A Certificate of Completion will be presented from the University of Dayton and the Diocese of Roseau awarding 2.5 Continuing Education Credits.

Students must complete PART 1 and pay the enrollment fee at least 2 weeks before the beginning of PART 2.

PART 2 of the course will be offered on the following dates:

Cycle 1: January 15 – February 18, 2017
Cycle 4: May 28 – July 1, 2017
Cycle 6: September 3 – October 7, 2017
